2 Deer Valley Unified students appointed to Governor’s commission

Two Deer Valley Unified School District students have been selected to serve on the 2026-27 Governor’s Youth Commission, joining high school students from across Arizona who will advise state leaders on issues affecting young people. Mountain Ridge High School junior Amit Taduri and Sandra Day O’Connor High School senior Olivia Hsu were among the newly announced appointees.

The commission, administered through the Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family, brings together student leaders from throughout the state to discuss public policy, civic engagement and community service while providing recommendations to state officials on issues impacting Arizona’s youth. Members also participate in leadership development and volunteer initiatives during their yearlong terms.

The 2026-27 commission includes students representing public, charter, private and tribal schools from communities across Arizona.
