2 dead, 2 hospitalized in Phoenix head-on collision

A collision in west Phoenix is being investigated after two men died and two others were injured, police said.

The crash occurred about 1:50 a.m. Sunday in the 7300 block of West Indian School Road. Officers arrived and found three men with critical injuries. Two of the men, 35-year-old Erick Segura and Alonso Franco, 37, were pronounced dead at the scene. A 28-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were taken to hospitals.

Preliminary information suggests that the 28-year-old driving a Chevrolet Camaro was eastbound on Indian School Road in the curb lane when he attempted to change lanes “to avoid a car going much slower than he was,” according to a Phoenix Police Department release.
