A botched robbery that left a man dead has led to the arrest of two suspects, Phoenix police said Saturday.

Arturo Vazquez-Rodriguez and Isaac Lechuga, both 19, have been booked in connection with the death of Naul Hernandez, 55.

Early Friday morning, Phoenix officers responded to a shooting call in the 2800 block of North 27th Avenue. They were directed to the parking lot of a gas station where they found Hernandez with a gunshot wound. He died at the scene.

An initial investigation identified a vehicle through surveillance videos. A similar vehicle was seen leaving an armed robbery scene just before the deadly shooting, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.

Homicide detectives and a tactical unit identified the truck and its owner and at about 2 p.m. Feb. 21 Lechuga was arrested at his house in connection with the robbery and homicide, Later that day law enforcement found Vazquez-Rodriguez and took him into custody, police said.

They were booked for two counts of armed robbery and one count of first-degree murder.
