$170K in improvements on way to T-bird Conservation Park in Glendale

Residents weigh in on needs facing popular north side spot

One of Glendale’s oldest and most used parks is getting a facelift.

Thunderbird Conservation Park, a 1,185-acre park in the Hedgpeth Hills in north Glendale, at 22800 N. 59th Ave., and with eight trails, will get $170,077 worth of trail improvements and enhancements. The city has contracted with American Conservation Experience to do the upcoming work.

Glendale acquired the park in 1951, and over the years about 15 miles of multiuse trails have been constructed, thanks to efforts of volunteer groups. Park activities include picnicking, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, jogging and bird watching.
