$160M in Glendale bonds on way to November ballot, divides council

City has five months to make its case to the voters

Bond questions in the amount of $160 million will officially go to Glendale voters this November.

City councilmembers were at odds about the timing of the election, though, as another public meeting in chambers turned testy Tuesday night.

Councilmembers Lauren Tolmachoff and Bart Turner were two nay votes on the issue that ultimately passed. They characterize the process as rushed and believe other funding options are available for the two questions voters will face: public safety, which currently has $86.5 million to move forward with funding, and streets and parking, which is virtually out of remaining bond authority funds with a remaining balance of just $324,000.
