A Mesa resident cannot add a 15-foot-tall section to a 10-foot-tall detached garage of a home at 2811 E. Norwood St., the board of adjustment decided recently.
Chad Brackman of HiCaliber Design requested a variance on behalf of Evan Polasky to allow a detached accessory building greater than 15 feet tall within the required side and rear yards in a single-residence zoning district.
An existing 16-foot-by-24-foot detached garage has an 8-foot-tall ceiling and a pitched roof with a median roof height of 10 feet, Brackman said in a narrative and justification statement.
