$13.1 million in upgrades completed at Scottsdale’s railroad park

The City of Scottsdale and Willmeng Construction hosted a grand re-opening Aug. 1 to mark the completion of $13.1 million in upgrades to the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park completed this summer.

The renovation is aimed at enhancing recreational offerings and boosting attendance at the park located at 7301 E. Indian Bend Road, according to a press release

A centerpiece of the renovation is the replacement of the former bunkhouse and clock tower with a new 7,500-square-foot structure known as the roundhouse. This modern facility now features a railroad-themed indoor play structure, public restrooms, offices, conference rooms and support spaces.

The City of Scottsdale and Willmeng Construction hosted a grand re-opening Aug. 1 to mark the completion of $13.1 million in upgrades to the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park completed this summer.

A centerpiece of the renovation is the replacement of the former bunkhouse and clock tower with a new 7,500-square-foot structure known as the roundhouse. This modern facility now features a railroad-themed indoor play structure, public restrooms, offices, conference rooms and support spaces.

Beyond the Roundhouse, the project encompassed numerous site improvements across the 30-acre park, including:

• Construction of a new concrete plaza and new pavers.

• Addition of a new concrete amphitheater and new landscape areas.
• A new 5,000-square-foot splash pad play area.
• Relocation of historic train cars.
• Removal of the existing restroom building and improvement of the park entry, signature art and sculptures.
• Installation of new park pathways, exterior lighting and shade trees.
