12-year-old Apache Junction student arrested in connection with social media threat
The student was charged with interfering with or disruption of an educational institution, a class 6 felony, and was booked into the Pinal County Youth Justice Center. Due to the individual’s age, personal information will not be released, police said.

The Apache Junction Police Department on Sept. 17 arrested a 12-year-old female student for posting a threat to Cactus Canyon Junior High School on social media.
“Once the information was relayed to AJPD, they immediately began conducting an investigation to identify the credibility and origin of the post. Thanks to numerous calls from concerned community members, AJPD was able to track the threat quickly and effectively. The student, a resident of Apache Junction, was identified with the assistance of law enforcement partners. The individual was interviewed and admitted to the threatening post,” AJPD stated in a Sept. 19 release.
