10-year-old faces weapons charge in West Valley

Two boys, ages 10 and 16, are facing charges after police said they were showing off a gun at a Buckeye park.

Buckeye police received a report about 5:45 p.m. Dec. 3 that a group of males were handling a gun at a park near Sundance Parkway and 219th Lane.

“Officers responded to the area and located two juveniles matching the suspect descriptions. One of the suspects, a 10-year-old male, was found to have a handgun matching the unique description provided by witnesses inside a backpack,” a Buckeye Police Department release stated.

10-year-old faces weapons charge in West Valley

Two boys, ages 10 and 16, are facing charges after police said they were showing off a gun at a Buckeye park.

Buckeye police received a report about 5:45 p.m. Dec. 3 that a group of males were handling a gun at a park near Sundance Parkway and 219th Lane.

“Officers responded to the area and located two juveniles matching the suspect descriptions. One of the suspects, a 10-year-old male, was found to have a handgun matching the unique description provided by witnesses inside a backpack,” a Buckeye Police Department release stated.

The second juvenile, a 16-year-old, was also identified as being involved in the incident at the park, police said.

The younger suspect was released to a guardian with Buckeye police submitting weapons misconduct charges. The 16-year-old suspect was booked into jail for similar weapons charges.
