1-year-old rescued after drowning incident, Apache Junction police say

Officers responded to a drowning call at a community pool on South Phelps Drive in Apache Junction at 6:44 p.m. July 17, Apache Junction Police Department said.

A 1-year-old child had been at the community pool at 380 S. Phelps Drive with their family when they briefly became distracted, police said in a Facebook post @ApacheJunctionPD.

“When they turned back, the child was found underwater and they immediately called 911. Officers arrived within minutes and began chest compressions. The child became responsive after vomiting and was transported to the hospital for further care,” it states.
