A Phoenix man was arrested for charges including second-degree murder earlier this month after fatally shooting one man and non-fatally shooting another man in the group he was socializing with.
Neighbors said five men, including the 52-year-old suspect Juan Borbon-Hurtado, were socializing and drinking alcohol on the street in front of Mr. Borbon-Hurtado’s house near 71st Avenue and Van Buren Street in Phoenix late at night on Saturday, Oct. 10 into the early morning of Sunday, Oct. 11.
According to statements the other four men made to police, Mr. Borbon-Hurtado and one of the men were arguing, which led to Mr. Borbon-Hurtado retrieving a handgun from his car and shooting twice at the man, shooting his leg with one of the shots. The other men tried to calm Mr. Borbon-Hurtado down.
