1 dead in fiery Tempe crash

A crash in Tempe early Wednesday morning left one person dead and closed down a major intersection in the city for hours, police said.
The accident occurred about 3 a.m. April 26 near Scottsdale Road and Rio Salado Parkway.
Tempe police and personnel from Tempe Fire Medical and Rescue responded to the single-vehicle accident and found the vehicle on fire with a person inside, officials said.
Firefighters worked to put the blaze out and confirmed the individual was dead, police said.
Investigators are determining the cause of the crash.
