OPINION — I’m voting for Elizabeth Lee because I have taken the time to get to know her beyond campaign literature and public appearances.
Through my interactions with Elizabeth, I have met members of her campaign team, her friends and her family, and I have had the opportunity to discuss her background, values and goals with her personally.
What stands out most to me is the consistency between how Elizabeth presents herself publicly and how those closest to her describe her. I have spoken with people who have known her for many years, and their genuine affection and support speak volumes about her character. They describe her as dependable, reliable, hardworking, driven and deeply caring. Those qualities are not developed overnight for a campaign — they are built over a lifetime.
I am particularly impressed by Elizabeth’s determination and her commitment to serving others. The endorsements she has received reflect the confidence that many respected individuals and organizations have placed in her candidacy.
I have heard claims suggesting that some of her endorsers did not conduct sufficient due diligence before offering their support. I find those assertions concerning because they appear to diminish the judgment and integrity of the individuals making those endorsements rather than engaging with the merits of Elizabeth's candidacy.
Endorsements are meaningful because they represent the considered opinions of people who have chosen to lend their credibility and reputation to a candidate. Dismissing those endorsements without evidence risks unfairly questioning the character and decision-making of the endorsers themselves.
Ultimately, my support for Elizabeth Lee is based on my own experiences, conversations and observations. I believe she possesses the integrity, character, determination and commitment to public service that are essential qualities in an elected official, and I am confident she will work hard to represent the people of Arizona’s 5th Congressional District.
