Teen found fatally injured on San Tan Valley road struck by car

A 16-year-old boy who died after being found with serious injuries late Thursday on a San Tan Valley road was hit by a vehicle.

Pinal County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Sam Salzwedel confirmed that the teen was struck by a car. No other details are being released at this time.

The boy was found about 11:30 p.m. Oct. 1 on Murray Grey Drive near Empire Boulevard and Gary Road, according to a Pinal County Sheriff’s Office release. He was airlifted to a hospital where he died, PCSO officials said Friday.

Detectives investigated and questioned three boys, all of whom were released as the investigation continues. All of those involved knew each other, officials said.

No identities were provided, and authorities did not release information about the injuries sustained by the boy who died.
