Spiritual Leader: Curt McReynolds is September's Queen Creek Hometown Hero

Posted

Curt McReynolds spent more than a decade working in Corporate America before giving his life to pastoral work.

He serves as the campus pastor for Christ’s Church of the Valley in Queen Creek since 2018. He first moved to the Valley from Illinois in 2017.

“Our family loves QC. It meant so much when (Christ’s Church of the Valley) announced that a campus would open in Queen Creek,” McReynolds said.

Furthering his dedication to his faith and hometown, McReynolds will be the Queen Creek Police Department’s first chaplain.

Business Name: Christ’s Church of the Valley (CCV)

When and why I moved here: 2017, originally for a  leadership/management opportunity in Scottsdale.

What I like most about living here: Everything! The weather, the sun, the small town vibes that still exist in Queen Creek, along with tons of new construction and more and more options!

What I do: I serve as the campus pastor for CCV Queen Creek.

Personal background highlights: My wife and I have been married for 20 years, that is THE highlight! She is incredible and the best part of me. I have three amazing kids, all teenagers and currently in high school. My family is my highlight ... I’m an extremely proud husband and father.

Professional background highlights: Prior to joining CCV in 2018 and starting in ministry, I served as a CEO for 12 years and a COO for three years in nonprofit management. I have a bachelor’s degree in business communications and a master’s degree in sports management.

What I like most about what I do: The ability make church, and really a journey with faith, real for someone that is searching for faith and God. It’s an amazing honor to impact someone on their overall walk with faith.

What does being nominated for this category mean to you? I always feel like people that are being nominated, or highlighted, for awards or recognition are doing something greater than what their job description reads. I hope that can be said of me!

What does it mean to be a Queen Creek resident? Our family loves QC. It meant so much when CCV announced that a campus would open in Queen Creek. This community is home, and it always has been since we first moved here from Illinois in 2017.

What do you think you bring to the local community that makes it better? I’m excited to work with the police department as the inaugural QCPD chaplain. I serve with the QCUSD finance committee and with the Faith Mather Elementary School Community & Family Engagement Council. I enjoy being active and giving back in different areas of the community.

What would you tell people about why it's important to make a difference in Queen Creek? If all you do is consume in life, then how can you possibly say at the end of your life and the last of your days that you stand proud of your impact? Just give a little bit more tomorrow than you did today and watch what happens in your life.

Changes I'd like to see in this area: LOU MALNATIS ... please.

Favorite community cause & why: I’m biased, but our church is incredible. I’m a fan of so many other churches in QC as well, Sun Valley, Rock Point and many others including the cool church plants that are all over QC as well. As a resident in QC, you have so many options to begin your journey with faith and that needs to be celebrated.

My family: My wife (Jessica) and three kids (Abbey, Nolan and Logan). My mother-in-law (Fran) lives in the area as well, which is cool. My family is everything to me.

My interests and hobbies: Love watching sports, playing sports. Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers are the top of the list for sure. I also enjoy working in my yard, landscaping and just being active in general.

The trait(s) I admire in others: Great attitude and great effort. Two things you absolutely can control every day of your life. Those traits are great for being a teammate and great for being a leader.

People who inspired me (and how): I had some great bosses and leaders in my life. Each of them I was able to learn and take things from their leadership style. Biblically, I love the life of Joshua ... someone that was hand selected to lead a nation of people but did so with a pure reliance on God and the promise that no matter where he went in life, God was right there with him.

My guiding philosophy: Romans 12:12 - “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.”  That verse is the roller-coaster of life. We are always being tested, stretched, pressed and how we keep joy in our heart, how we remain patient to those around us and how we never lose our faith in prayer is a great testament to the journey of life.

My advice to today’s youth: Explore your interests! If you can work, make a career through your interests, you will be RICH in your soul. Great attitude and great effort will open more doors for you than they will shut, trust me.

The Queen Creek Independent is pleased to announce Curt McReynolds as the September 2025 Hometown Hero bestowed in the category of Spiritual Leader.  The Queen Creek Independent along with East Valley Institute of Technology and the Queen Creek Olive Mill salute Pastor McReynolds as this month's Queen Creek Hometown Heroes Awards recipient.
