Recycle cooking oil in Queen Creek

Posted

After cooking your holiday meal, the town of Queen Creek is asking residents to properly toss out used cooking oil and grease.

Pouring oil and grease in your trash or recycling cart is hazardous and can create a dangerous mess and  pouring it down your drain can cause backups and overflows, according to a post on the town’s Facebook page.

“Instead, strain your oil at home to remove any food particles, then pour it into one of the town's cooking oil recycling program containers,” The post added.

Containers can be found at:

  • Fire Station 2, 24787 S. Sossaman Road
  • Queen Creek Recycle Center, 22638 S. Ellsworth Road

All used cooking oil and grease disposed of at these locations is turned into biodiesel fuel, the post stated
