Queen Creek to look at annexation, rezoning for housing

Posted

The Queen Creek Town Council holds its next meeting on Nov. 4. Road and sewer improvements, as well as annexation are on the agenda.

The public will have its say on a proposal to annex approximately 131 acres east of Meridian Road from Germann Road, north to the future State Route 24.

In that same vein, there will be a public hearing and possible action on a request from Woodside Homes to rezone approximately 390 acres to allow for a future residential and commercial development at the southeast corner of Meridian and Germann roads.

The town council also will consider and possibly approve authorizing and directing the town manager, and/or utilities director to take any and all action necessary and sign any contracts or agreements related to the construction and completion of sewer improvements on Meridian Road from Queen Creek to Germann Road, currently budgeted at more than $2.5 million.

Consideration and possible approval also is planned for authorizing any contracts or agreements related to the construction and completion of water and sewer improvements on Schnepf Road, currently budgeted at more than $9.6 million with an almost $6 million budget adjustment.

The council also will consider and possibly approve a $22,666 intergovernmental agreement with the city of Mesa for repairs to Sossaman Road.
