Posted
Independent Newsmedia
Erin Pillsbury is the new principal of Desert Mountain Elementary School, 22301 S. Hawes Road in Queen Creek.
The hiring of Mrs. Pillsbury was approved at the April Queen Creek Unified School District Governing Board meeting. She replaces Jim Richardson starting in the 2020-21 school year, according to a release.
“We are excited to have Erin officially join the QCUSD family. After serving as dean of students at another QCUSD elementary school, it was evident that Erin’s experience and energy are a great match for our district and the DME team,” Dr. Perry Berry, QCUSD superintendent, said in the release.
This is Mrs. Pillsbury’s 17th year in education. She has taught special education preschool and kindergarten. She moved out of the classroom to be an instructional coach for students in grades kindergarten through six, then began her current position as dean of students at Queen Creek Elementary, the release states.
“I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Desert Mountain community and the growing Queen Creek Unified School District,” Mrs. Pillsbury said.
She and her husband live in Gilbert, on the border of Queen Creek, with her two dogs. They have two children --- Eli, who is out of college and getting married this fall; and Karly, who is finishing her degree in elementary education at NAU this semester.
Mrs. Pillsbury is originally from Indiana but has lived in Arizona for 25 years.
