Elizabeth “Betty” L. Wood

Posted

Betty left this world June 21, 2020, just as she entered it on February 8, 1922: smart, independent, strong and a firm believer in self-determination.
She was a proud Sun City resident and active member of Unity Church for nearly 50 years.
A woman who could do anything she set her mind to, Betty was a former real estate broker, business owner/operator, a longtime volunteer for the Sheriff’s Posse of Sun City West, a co-founder of 4 Paws Rescue (a no-kill shelter and rescue for cats and kittens), and an ardent and formidable tennis player and golfer.
She is survived by many beloved friends and neighbors; her dear executive assistant, Janie Felix; her nephew, Dennis Gregory and his wife, Nice; and two daughters for whom Betty ably served as both mother and father.
She raised Babette L. Barone of Boulder, CO, and Susan J. Richardson of Modesto, CA, to value hard work and service, to be active participants in their communities, to champion the rights of others, and to be outspoken advocates for animals.
She is loved and will be missed by many, all of whom recognized her intelligence, wit and wisdom, unerring moral compass and her passion for life.
