Construction to cause temporary closure of Queen Creek recycle center

Posted

The town’s recycle center will be closed Nov. 5-6 for construction on a cooking oil drop-off site.

The center at 22179 E. Ryan Road is scheduled to reopen with normal business hours Saturday, Nov 7.

“Recycling your used cooking oil and grease helps the town keep its sewers free from backups and overflows, contributes to clean air, prevents truck fires and turns the used cooking oil and grease into biodiesel fuel,” a town press release stated.

Residents can also safely dispose of used cooking oil and grease at Fire Station 2, 24787 S. Sossaman Road. For more information on disposing of used cooking oil, visit queencreeaz.gov.

The recycle center accepts the same materials as curbside recycling carts. Residents looking to dispose of additional items, including appliances, electronics, metals, tires, latex paint, paper for shredding and textiles, can register for and attend the next QC Recycles drive-thru drop-off event.

The event runs from 7-11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 14 at the field operations facility, 19715 S. 220th St. The event is free and open to all town residents, with pre-registration closing on Monday, Nov. 9.
