A woman who was crossing Bell Road at 3rd Street on Sunday night died after being hit by a vehicle, police said.

Vera Sihirlic was crossing Bell Road in a crosswalk about 7:45 p.m. Dec. 1. She entered the crosswalk during a green light, but the light cycled through as she was crossing, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.

A vehicle headed east entered the intersection on a green light and struck Sihirlic, who was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the location and showed no signs of impairment, the release stated.

An investigation is underway.
