West Valley shooting ends with 1 dead, 2 hospitalized

Phoenix police are investigating a triple shooting in the 2600 block of North 45th Avenue that left a 17-year-old dead and put a girl and the shooting suspect in a hospital.

The shooting occurred about 2:15 p.m. March 18 at an apartment complex where officers found a man in the middle of the complex with at least one gunshot wound. The man, who was determined to be the suspect in the shooting, is in critical but stable condition at a hospital, police said.

Inside a nearby apartment, a juvenile female and juvenile male were found shot. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Arlandis West Jr., 17, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Detectives said preliminary information suggests the man confronted the victim about a disagreement. The confrontation resulted in a fight and then an exchange of gunfire.

Once the suspect is released from medical care, he will be booked on multiple charges and information about him will be released, police said.
