Early Monday, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo announced Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. would be getting up to $6.6 billion for a third factory to be built in north Phoenix. It came a week after the third anniversary of when TSMC signed its development agreement with the city of Phoenix to build it’s first factory.
On March 31, 2021, TSMC and Phoenix officials signed a development agreement that brought the $12 billion chip manufacturing center to northwest Phoenix.
