Paradise Valley Unified School District will receive up to $2.17 million in career and technical education funding through West-MEC for the 2026-27 school year under an amended agreement approved by the governing board Oct. 8.
The board approved Resolution No. 615 as part of its consent agenda, updating financial provisions and the list of services provided through the Western Maricopa Education Center, a career and technical education district.
According to the agreement, PVSchools' allocation is $2,167,947.21, based on the district's prior-year average daily membership. The funding supports career and technical education programs offered on district high school campuses.
Eligible uses include classroom program needs, industry-aligned equipment, student industry credentials and career and technical student organizations that provide leadership opportunities.
The agreement also provides for additional ninth-grade funding calculated by the Arizona Department of Education. Other potential funding sources include innovation, transportation and counselor grants.
West-MEC provides participating districts with additional services, including curriculum support, professional development, certification training, student career services and assistance with state reporting requirements.
The amendment replaces two exhibits in the district's existing agreement with West-MEC to comply with updated guidance from the Arizona Auditor General.
District officials said the revisions clarify the agreement's language but do not change current operations or payment procedures.
The agreement carries no additional cost to PVSchools.
