A global technology issue Friday morning is causing some flight delays and cancellations at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, though not as much as at many other airports.
“Most airport operations are operating normally; however, the airport continues to see some flight impacts with delays and cancellations,” stated Sky Harbor spokesperson Heather Shelbrack in an email to Independent Newsmedia Friday morning. “We could continue to see delays and cancellations throughout the day due to airline issues elsewhere in their networks. Travelers should check their flight status with their airline before coming to the airport.”
The technology outage was caused by an issue with the cybersecurity technology company Crowdstrike. In a news release, the company said the issue was “a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts… The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed.”
