INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
Brazion Sheppard was released from a hospital Saturday and booked into jail in connection with the death of a teenager five days earlier.
Sheppard, 18, faces charges of first-degree murder, burglary and aggravated assault as the suspect in the slaying of 17-year-old Arlandis West Jr. and the shooting of a juvenile girl.
The shooting occurred about 2:15 p.m. March 18 at an apartment complex where officers found a man in the middle of the complex with at least one gunshot wound. The man, who was determined to be the suspect in the shooting, was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition.
Inside a nearby apartment, a juvenile female and juvenile male were found shot. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. West was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Detectives said preliminary information suggests the suspect confronted the victim about a disagreement. The confrontation resulted in a fight and then an exchange of gunfire.
