Phoenix felon sent to prison for firearm violation

Posted

A 41-year-old Phoenix man has been sentenced to more than six years in prison for unlawful possession of a firearm.

Leonard Stanley White was arrested May 9 on a supervised release violation warrant and had a firearm, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

White pleaded guilty on Nov. 21 to felon in possession of a firearm “and in doing so, he admitted to violating his supervised release conditions,” authorities said.

U.S. District Judge David G. Campbell sentenced White to 82 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

White had previously been convicted of voluntary manslaughter.

After the voluntary manslaughter conviction, White was sentenced to 70 months for possessing the firearm and an additional 12 months for violating his supervised release in another case, the release stated.
