O’Connor: Authoritarians in Congress must be voted out

Posted

We are not Hungary. It was chilling to read about the standing ovations in response to Victor Orbán’s speech at CPAC-Dallas last week.

What ideas did the Hungarian prime minister promote in his speech? White supremacy. Conservative patriarchal Christian supremacy. Strongman control of the media, the workplace and the classroom. Rigged elections and a complicit civil service.

How did MAGA extremists in the audience respond to these ideas? They cheered and cheered. The United States is not Hungary, and Americans are not sheep.

The radical, vicious, anti-Americans who clapped for the petty dictator of Hungary do not represent us.

They must be voted out in November.
