New south Phoenix Fire station hosts open house Saturday

The Phoenix Fire Department will host the grand opening of Fire Station 62 with a special open house event on Saturday, Jan. 25, the department announced in a news release.

This community celebration will offer a chance for residents to explore the state-of-the-art facility and meet the dedicated firefighters who serve them.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. with speeches from city leaders, including Mayor Kate Gallego, city council members, Fire Chief Mike Duran, representatives from the fire union and construction partners who helped bring the new station to life. These remarks will highlight the significance of the new fire station and its role in enhancing emergency response and services for the community.

Following the ceremony, guests will have the opportunity to take part in family-friendly activities and enjoy a variety of interactive experiences. Attendees can explore the new fire station during guided tours, which will be available until noon. This is a unique opportunity to get an up-close look at the equipment, technology and resources that support the Phoenix Fire Department’s mission.

“Fire Station 62 is a vital addition to our community, and we’re thrilled to invite Phoenix residents to come meet their firefighters, tour the station, and learn more about how we serve the city,” Fire Chief Mike Duran stated in a news release.
