Man dies in car-pedestrian accident in west Phoenix

A 39-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday morning in west Phoenix, the Phoenix Police Department said in a release on Monday afternoon.

A 39-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday morning in west Phoenix, the Phoenix Police Department said in a news release on Monday afternoon.

According to the release, at around 6 a.m., Phoenix Police responded to a car/pedestrian collision in the area of North 59th Avenue and West McDowell Road.

Upon arrival, officers located everyone involved. Phoenix Fire personnel transported the pedestrian to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. He has been identified as 39-year-old Michael McKelvey.
