Local immigration groups speak out against Trump plans

Some local immigration groups are speaking out against immigrant-related executive orders from newly sworn-in President Donald Trump a day after he took office.

This week, Trump declared a “national emergency” on the U.S.-Mexico border as part of immigration-related executive orders and “he plans to send U.S. troops to help support immigration agents and restrict refugees and” asylum, the Associated Press reported.

“It’s theater and grandstanding,” said Arizona State Sen. Analise Ortiz, D-Phoenix, on Tuesday.
