The Kyrene Elementary School District governing board voted unanimously on May 26 to adopt a remote instructional model for students with extenuating circumstances who would otherwise be unable to complete required coursework.
Amy Gingell, director of academic equity and engagement for grades 4-8, presented the model and explained that it would cover students who are expected to be absent for 10 days or more to attend class asynchronously to complete the same assignments as their peers attending in person.
Additionally, a teacher may assign work to the student and will give them at least 10 days following the first day of absence to have it all turned in.
