Triné Nelson, former board vice president, was selected president of the Kyrene School District board and member Amy Satre vice president in a unanimous vote at the Jan. 13 regular board meeting.
Before the vote former president Kevin Walsh announced that he would not be seeking another term in leadership after five years of service as president and seven years on the board. He also announced that their family welcomed a fifth child and while he will be stepping back to spend more time with family, he will be supporting the new president in any way he can.
“This has been the honor of my life, but I would like to step back and let others have a chance to serve in a leadership position,” Walsh said.
