Glendale advances plans to name park after McCoy

Glendale started last week on the track to renaming one of its parks after local legend and longtime resident Al McCoy.

The 51-year Phoenix Suns broadcaster and Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame honoree lived most of those years in Glendale.

If approved, the city will rename New World Park, near 49th Avenue between Olive and Northern avenues, Al McCoy Memorial Park. Glendale also plans to name the park's basketball court Shazam Court.
