APCO International is the largest association representing the public safety communications (911) community. There are 45,000 members and represent all of emergency communications – those who manage, operate, build and support public safety communications systems for law enforcement, fire, emergency medical and other public safety agencies.
Mental health, wellness and staffing levels are all issues of great importance to the public safety communications industry. The mental well-being of 911 telecommunicators can be overlooked in the world of public safety, however they experience trauma and PTSD as other first responders.
