Valley Metro and the city of Phoenix are seeking input on the recommended route for the West Phoenix High-Capacity Transit Alternatives Analysis. Based on community feedback and significant technical analysis, a route beginning at Central Avenue/Indian School Road to 75th Avenue/Thomas Road will be shared with the community and recommended for approval.
Additionally, two starting points, off the current light rail line at either Central or 19th avenues, were further evaluated based on community feedback. This additional analysis will also be presented to the community.
The recommended route is proposed to travel west on Indian School Road from Central Avenue, south on 75th Avenue and west on Thomas Road, ultimately connecting central Phoenix and Maryvale neighborhoods. This route is being advanced based on several factors including highest ridership potential and ability to serve the highest number of transit-reliant customers of the more than 10 potential routes evaluated.
The project team will host three public meetings, as well as open up a public comment period to garner input.

All meetings will provide identical presentations and will be available in English and Spanish. View the digital flyer with .more information here. Presentation materials along with a public comment form to submit feedback will be available on the project website by March 15. Following this round of public feedback, route approval will move forward to the Phoenix City Council, associated subcommittees, and the Valley Metro Rail Board across the months of March–May.
