A Phoenix family is asking for donations after their teenage daughter underwent successful liver transplant surgery in March.
The teen, Avery Morkert, is a Phoenix resident who received a life-saving liver transplant March 17 at Phoenix Children’s Hospital after being diagnosed with Auto Immune Hepatitis.
According to the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, transplant procedures can cost from $100,000 to more than $800,000 and leave families with a significant financial hardship.
The nonprofit organization helps to raise funds for families who have had to deal with transplant-related expenses.
Contributions may be sent to the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, 2501 West COTA Drive, Bloomington, Indiana, 47403. Checks should be made payable to COTA, with “In Honor of Avery” written on the memo line. Secure credit card gifts are accepted online at www.COTAforAvery.com.
