The One Big Beautiful Bill passed by Congress last year tightened requirements to participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. The Associated Press reported that, according to advocates, some who qualify for the help are rejected because they miss deadlines or don't have the needed documentation handy.
The city of Phoenix is trying to help its residents who might be in that situation.
Phoenix City Council on Wednesday approved $206,294 to fund SNAP Navigators, who will assist residents to find out if they are eligible for SNAP and to fill out the paperwork if they are.
