The city of Phoenix greatly expanded its distribution of the overdose-reversing drug naloxone during the spring.
The city distributed 5,281 free naloxone kits in February through April. That is a 65% increase over the prior quarter, November-January, and a 68% increase over the same quarter last year, Phoenix Public Health Advisor Yanitza Soto told the Community Services and Education Subcommittee on Wednesday.
Each kit contains two naloxone nasal sprays and information about how to administer them.
