Phoenix police are reconstructing a collision that killed a pedestrian who was hit by a car March 10 as he was crossing a road against a red light.
Deshan Begay, 24, died at a hospital following the crash that occurred about 6:25 p.m. Wednesday at 51st Avenue and the Interstate 10 westbound access road, police said.
Investigators said they found that the victim disregarded the don't walk sign and attempted to cross the westbound access road to Interstate 10 when the car hit him.
The car was entering the freeway on a green light when it struck the pedestrian, police said.
The driver of the car told authorities his vision was partially impaired by the setting sun, and police said witness statements are consistent with the drivers’ accounts.
Impairment is not believed to be a factor.
Specifics of the investigation will not be known until the accident reconstruction is complete, police said.
