9-year-old Phoenix cold case homicide search ends in arrest

A 25-year-old man has been booked as a suspect in a 2014 homicide that took the life of Pedro Antunez-Andrade, 19, Phoenix police said.

Phoenix homicide detectives said in September 2014 they established probable case and issued an arrest warrant for Iram Quintana for murder. He was taken into custody on April 16, 2024.

The case dates back to Sept. 23, 2014. when police responded about 1:40 to a shooting call near 9800 North 9th Avenue. They found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Detectives later determined that then 15-year-old Iram Quintana was the main suspect and was believed to have fled to Mexico, according to a release. A warrant was issued for his arrest as the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Marshal’s Office assisted in trying to find Quintana with no success.

At about 8 a.m. April 16, Phoenix patrol officers contacted Quintana while investigating a trespassing call at an abandoned property near 12500 North 28th Drive.  Quintana was taken into custody without incident and booked into jail on a second-degree murder charge, police said.
