Lasting Impressions, 4454 E Thomas Rd, Phoenix, is a family business co-owned by Mark Jacobson and his brother-in-law, Frank Scarcello. Jacobson’s brother, Brian Jacobson and Frank, started the company about 23 years ago.
Being locally and family owned, Lasting Impressions brings compassion and understanding to homeowners and their goals, said Karen Kendall, general manager.
Kendall has worked for the company since 2017 and has lived in Arizona since 1987. Below are five pieces of advice she has for her community after working in the business.
When should homeowners look into replacing their doors and/or windows?
This really depends on what is currently installed. Some of the older homes have single pane aluminum or even steel windows. These are not very efficient and should be replaced as you can. Replacing windows and doors are not a cheap event. It is even possible to break the replacement down into “elevations”. In other words, doing a side of the home at a time or even 2. This will help financially.
What are some easy maintenance options for homeowners to help maintain the quality of their windows and doors?
Check the perimeter frame inside and outside for cracks in the caulking. This should be checked and/or repaired every 1-2 years.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking for their first home?
Operate each door and window. Make sure that they latch and lock. Look at each piece of glass for clarity, in other words no fogging or moisture between the glass.
What advice would you give seasoned homeowners who are preparing to put their house on the market?
Check all units to assure they are sealing and locking tight.
In your opinion, what types of issues should Arizonans take more seriously when it comes to buying, installing, and maintaining their windows and doors?
Energy Efficiency. We are in a hot area and efficient windows and doors are not just for cold. They are to keep the elements where they belong.
