Tighter land-use regulations eyed by Paradise Valley to curb short-term rentals

Officials recommend changes to STRs, assisted and sober living homes

While Paradise Valley is prohibited from more-strictly regulating short-term rental properties, suggestions coming from the town’s legal department say tighter — and more specific — requirements for the Airbnb and VRBO properties, such as escalating fees and requiring special events permits, could be possible.

Paradise Valley may soon explore changes to town code, processes or practices when it comes to short-term rental, assisted living, group or time-share homes — land-use matters that are occurring in residentially zoned neighborhoods.

The Town Council is expected to discuss the four residential categories during a 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, virtual meeting.
