Thomasson: Thank you, Scott Moore, for all your contributions

Posted

As we elected Mark Stanton as our 2024 vice mayor, we thanked outgoing Vice Mayor Scott Moore. Scott is an exceptionally valuable member of our Town Council who humbly seeks no recognition for his many contributions.

As a professional planner and developer, he has deep technical expertise and brings genuinely useful suggestions to projects we review. During the recent Andaz expansion, he suggested reorienting the casita plunge pools to move them further from the neighbors. For the recent Smoketree revitalization, he combed through the details of parking and traffic stipulations to make sure they addressed all concerns raised.

He was instrumental in crafting and explaining the recent pad height ordinance addressing new construction on sloped lots. Several years ago, he rolled up his sleeves and worked closely with staff to draft the hillside safety guidelines.

The examples of his specific, significant contributions to the town are too numerous to list, but as someone who has shared the dais with him for five years, I can attest the final projects we approve are much improved thanks to his unique contributions. He is a humble man who lets his actual work speak for him. He doesn’t pontificate, but saves his council comments for substantive remarks, and has always been available to me and others when we have questions or need help understanding a technical issue.

We are all better because of his contributions and I hope to serve with him for years to come.
