He also noted that STARLUX Airlines is increasing its flight frequency to Taipei, Taiwan, from four to five flights weekly.
“It’s a good sign that we’re seeing growth in the Asian market,” Makovsky said.
Makovsky said he was able to talk to the two airlines that fly out of Phoenix to Asia recently, STARLUX and China Airlines.
“They’re very pleased with the demand for their services here in our market, so we’re happy to see that,” he said.
Board Member Sandra Ferniza asked if the Breeze and Advanced Air flights would fly out of the recently renovated gates on the lower-level of Terminal 3. Makovsky said they would.
“A much-improved experience over what they had before,” Makovsky said.
At the gates, passengers take buses and use a passenger boarding ramp to board an aircraft parked remotely on the airfield.
Imperial, California is just north of El Centro and about 22 miles north of the Mexicali, Mexico. Santa Rosa, California, is north of the San Francisco Bay area and about 30 miles inland. It is a 55-mile drive south to San Fransico or Oakland and a 95-mile drive east to Sacramento. Bozeman, Montana, is about 75 miles north of Yellowstone National Park.
