Paradise Valley received between 2.44 and 4.72 inches of rain over a three-day period this weekend, according to Flood Control District of Maricopa County Rain Gauge data.
This prompted Public Works crews to respond overnight and over the weekend to clear roadways and address storm-related debris and runoff.
According to Public Works Superintendent Chris Martinez, roadways experienced varying levels of debris accumulation and runoff, and cleanup efforts are expected to continue over the next couple of weeks.
Public Works crews inspect and clear storm drains throughout the year to help maintain drainage systems. However, some flooding can still cause water to overtop roadways, he said.
The town is reminding motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians to follow the National Weather Service's “Turn Around, Don't Drown” safety campaign and never attempt to travel through floodwaters.
Residents who need to request storm-related cleanup can submit a request through the town's online Request Tracker or contact Public Works Superintendent Chris Martinez at 480-348-3527.
