Paradise Valley council discusses phasing out alarm monitoring program

The Paradise Valley Town Council discussed the future of the town’s alarm monitoring program during an Oct. 22 study session, ultimately directing staff to begin planning a gradual phaseout of the service.

Police Chief Freeman Carney told council members that residents using the town’s alarm monitoring program must work with three separate entities when establishing service or resolving issues: the town, a third-party company that sells the alarm equipment and Becklar, the company contracted by Paradise Valley to provide monitoring.

“For our customers, it can get a little disorganized for them at times because they have to go to three different types of entities to get answers,” Carney said.
