The Childhelp Holiday Toy & Clothing Drive is accepting donations of new and unused nonviolent toys, clothes and gift cards for children and families affected by abuse and neglect through Dec. 31.
The annual drive is an opportunity for businesses, families and individuals to unite and help make the holidays special for children in need, according to a press release.
Every year, Childhelp provides clothing and toys to thousands of children under Childhelp’s care in Arizona and its other sites in California, Tennessee and Virginia.
“We saw an increase in calls to the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline throughout the pandemic, signaling that many children were at home suffering at the hands of an abuser,” the Childhelp director of Wings & Arizona Chapter Coordinator said in the release.
“Part of our healing work at Childhelp involves ensuring each child feels secure, loved and special. Our Childhelp Founders established standards that include a special holiday for children with presents from their wish lists.”
Specific needs in high demand this year include undergarments in all sizes, fidget spinners, makeup kits, adult sized shoes, superhero themed items, Legos and multicultural dolls, the release said.

Childhelp was founded by Sara O’Meara and Yvonne Fedderson in 1959, according to the release.
Childhelp has impacted the lives of more than 11 million children as a leading national nonprofit organization for helping abused, neglected and at-risk children.
Programs and services include residential treatment services, children’s advocacy centers, therapeutic foster care, group homes and child abuse prevention, education and training.
The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline serves children and adults nationwide 24/7 through phone, text and online chat, the release added.
