The Nuvision Credit Union is to be on the north side of the 5800 block of East Longbow Parkway in Mesa.
A Nuvision Credit Union with a drive-up ATM — its first community branch in Mesa — is to be constructed west of Recker Road and south of the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway.
The Mesa Planning and Zoning Board on Aug. 28 voted 5-0 as part of a consent agenda with other items to approve a site plan review for the development on 1.3 acres. Vice Chair Jeff Pitcher and Boardmember Chase Farnsworth were not at the meeting.
The site is currently vacant. The business will be within the city’s Falcon Field sub area plan, Planner Kwasi Abebrese said at a study session prior to the meeting.
“The site plan shows the development of an approximately 4,010-square-foot commercial building and the building (includes) a 2,155-square-foot financial institution with a drive-up ATM. It also includes an 1,855-square-foot attached commercial shell building on the west side of the financial institution,” he said.
“So the drive-up ATM lane will be located on the east side of the project site and will begin at the southeast corner of the site and extend all of the way up north and it will have an exit on the north side of the project site,” Abebrese said.
HilgartWilson LLC is the applicant. Nuvision Federal Credit Union is the owner; .
Nuvsion recently remodeled its branch within the Boeing facility and wants to expand its Mesa presence by adding its first community branch, according to a written narrative from DBSI.
“Part of the development is also to construct a tenant space adjacent to their branch. It is hoped that the adjacent tenant as well as commercial neighbors will help drive up membership for the credit union,” it states. “We are designing the tenant space to accommodate a non-restaurant, office-use space.”
The seven-member Planning and Zoning Board conducts hearings and make recommendations to the city council on requests for changes in zoning and on required site plans. It also considers and recommends changes in the city’s long-range plans and in the municipal code concerning planning and zoning matters. Members are appointed for staggered terms of three years.
