The Apache Junction City Council in a unanimous vote Jan. 3 on a consent agenda with other items approved a bulk-fuel agreement with Southern Counties Oil Co. dba SC Fuels for $800,000 for one year with the option to renew for up to four additional one-year periods.
Three businesses responded to a recent request for proposals, Administrative Services Manager Heather Hodgman said at the council’s Dec. 6 meeting.
They were SC Fuels, Pinnacle Petroleum Inc. and Petroleum Traders Corp.
“All of them ended up being responsive and responsible. They submitted all of their exhibits, they submitted all of the documents that were required, so we proceeded to move forward with reviewing them,” she said.
SC Fuels’ proposal includes costs of $0.4746 a gallon for red-dyed diesel, $0.3046 a gallon for clear diesel, $0.2195 a gallon for unleaded and $0.2186 a gallon for E55 fuel.
“So when you talk about fuel, it’s about the Phoenix (Oil Price Information Service) rack — it’s typical for both fuels. These prices that you see ... for instance, SC Fuels $0.4746 a gallon for red dye — that is added to the price per gallon that they pull that fuel for that day. So if it’s $4, it will be $4.4746. So they have to include their delivery, their taxes, any other charges they want to put on it,” Hodgman said.
